She had thought there was nothing to fear, but now a strange foreboding tightens around her chest. She closes her eyes, and at that moment she feels a warm weight on her right shoulder. Ranell had succumbed to sleep at last, and now her head lies on Melnia's shoulder. The darkness looming over Melnia seems to lift a little, and she sighs softly. She has no choice but to press on, for the sake of the figure curled up against her. There will be no turning back on this blood-soaked road.
