| A helm in the shape of a dragon's head, one of a number of arms that have been passed down since olden times within Gernsback's family. Once thought to have been crafted by a master armorer, in fact the helm was formed by the transmutation of a real dragon's bones. According to an ancient tome, this dragon made a pact with one of Gernsback's ancestors and fought alongside him in battle, sometimes taking the form of a shield, sometimes a sword. Eventually, after one particularly desperate battle, the dragon fell, exhausted and spent. But before it died, it used all of its remaining strength to transform itself into this helm. It became the physical embodiment of the dragon's soul, imbued with its compassion and dedication to its master, and has remained a precious treasure of Gernsback's family ever since. |
